Understanding
The Case

In April 2021, Andover Youth Services Director Bill Fahey received a letter from Andover Town Manager Andrew Flanagan notifying Bill the town manager intended to fire him from the organization he founded and the position he had occupied with distinction for 27 years. In the months since, the town has refused to provide the public with any of the reasons behind their decision, choosing instead to rely on a campaign of defamation to discredit Bill's reputation. The town has also responded to multiple Freedom Of Information Act requests by both media publications and concerned citizens by providing a completely redacted report running approximately 140 blacked out pages. Below, you can find resources and information about Bill's history of youth development and advocacy in Andover, the current situation and how you can help.

Words From Bill, May 19

Support THe Former AYS Staff

In late August 2021, the entire full time staff of Andover Youth Services resigned from their positions following months of professional turmoil in the wake of the firing of longtime AYS Director Bill Fahey. All four full time members submitted letters of resignation.

Those staff members plus Fahey gave close to 100 years of combined service as dedicated youth workers to the town of Andover and generations of young people. Fahey became the founding director of AYS in 1994 under the principle that young people in town deserved a voice in their community. Over the course of the ensuing 27 years, AYS staff dedicated round-the-clock efforts to youth programming, volunteer events, outdoors and recreation activities, community service, concerts, arts programming and much more. They also offered social and emotional support to young people in need, anytime, anywhere.

A Go Fund Me page was created by supporters of the former staff of Andover Youth Services in recognition of their years of service to the town and to its youth. None of the former staff were directly involved in the planning or creation of this page. Money raised will be evenly dispersed to the five former full-time staff and their families.

Make sure the town knows you believe in Bill too.
